Artificial Intelligence Systems

Plain-English Summary

AI-generated

House Bill 25-1009 updates Colorado's laws on artificial intelligence (AI) systems by narrowing the types of decisions that are considered high-risk, focusing only on employment and public safety. The bill also delays when these new rules will take effect until August 1, 2027, and exempts smaller businesses with fewer than 250 employees or less than $5 million in annual revenue, as well as local governments with fewer than 100,000 residents, from having to follow the regulations. Since it has been signed into law, these changes will now be implemented according to the new schedule and exemptions.
